Message from the Pastor, Robert Ritchie

The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

   (Ephesians 4:11-12 NRSV)

As a church community, together we have experienced Sunday worship, unity and memorial services, weddings, church dinners, men and women's groups, children's Sunday School and soup ministries. In all of these endeavors we have had opportunities to share our gifts and our love.

As a result, we know ourselves and one another better. We see our spiritual gifts at work. It gives us purpose.

As followers of Jesus, we try to live our lives through his teachings.  Through Him we  come closer to God. Because of Him, we have hope for a brighter future.

If the openness of Jesus can be maintained in all that we do, I am convinced we will be instrumental in reducing the dualistic thinking that seems to plague our world and our nation.  We can become models of how to allow people to voice a point of view. Even when it differs from our own.

We need to admit that none of us have a corner on what is right. Many contrasting circles talk of what our forefathers intended.  I submit that amoung other things our founders made it very clear that all of us are created equal.

The restaurant next to our church is The Common Place Eatery. The word "common" illustrates our circumstances. We are all in a common place.

I believe the survival of our world depends upon how well all of us continue to apply this.  As good stewards, together we can bring peace to our world.

Therefore by the grace of God, go we.
